Held at Silver Lakes Golf & Country Club, 21114 Yonge Street, RR 1, Newmarket, Ontario.

Once a month our membership meets at our Chamber Networking Breakfast. These meetings allow members to mingle in an informal atmosphere, discuss business items of mutual interest and enjoy a great hot buffet breakfast. We ask that members pre-register with the Chamber office by noon the preceding Friday as we have a limit of 70 spaces available.

Breakfast cost is $10.00 per person for Members and $15.00 for Non-Member Guests.

Coffee is served at 7:00 am with the buffet breakfast starting about 7:30am. While we eat, a presentation is usually given by a member business, which has offered to sponsor the breakfast. Before closing, any member has an opportunity to introduce themselves, and/or make a brief announcement. We endeavour to finish by 9:00am.

The First Annual Newmarket Skills Challenge will test your skills in Hockey (Fastest Skater, Accuracy and Hardest Shot), Lacrosse (Hardest Shot, Accuracy), Basketball (Free Throw and 3 point) and a football tournament on Nintendo Wii.

In the name of his newly created religion, the great Russian novelist has renounced his noble title, his property and even his family in favor of poverty, vegetarianism and even celibacy. After she's born him thirteen children!

When Sofya then discovers that Tolstoy's trusted disciple, Chertkov (Paul Giamatti)—whom she despises—may have secretly convinced her husband to sign a new will, leaving the rights to his iconic novels to the Russian people rather than his very own family, she is consumed by righteous outrage. This is the last straw. Using every bit of cunning, every trick of seduction in her considerable arsenal, she fights fiercely for what she believes is rightfully hers. The more extreme her behavior becomes, however, the more easily Chertkov is able to persuade Tolstoy of the damage she will do to his glorious legacy.

Into this minefield wanders Tolstoy's worshipful new assistant, the young, gullible Valentin (James McAvoy). In no time, he becomes a pawn, first of the scheming Chertkov and then of the wounded, vengeful Sofya as each plots to undermine the other's gains. Complicating Valentin's life even further is the overwhelming passion he feels for the beautiful, spirited Masha (Kerry Condon), a free thinking adherent of Tolstoy's new religion whose unconventional attitudes about sex and love both compel and confuse him. Infatuated with Tolstoy's notions of ideal love, but mystified by the Tolstoys' rich and turbulent marriage, Valentin is ill equipped to deal with the complications of love in the real world.

Aurora Public Library says the search is on for The Next Great Canadian Writer.

A group will meet the last Tuesday of each month to write chapter by chapter, month by month, the first draft of a novel, a book of poems, or a memoir. A prize will be awarded to the winner of The Next Great Canadian Writer challenge.

The Aurora Film Circuit presents....

Last Train Home is a 2009 documentary film directed by Lixin Fan and produced by Daniel Cross and Mila Aung-Thwin of EyeSteelFilm.

The Zhangs have left their Chinese village and their newborn daughter to find work in Guangzhou in a garment factory for long 16 years and see her only once a year during the Spring Festival. Now their daughter is 17, is bitter and rebellious and quits school and comes Guangzhou to become a young migrant worker. The mother pledges to reunite the family and to get the daughter back to school.

The movie happens at the Aurora Cineplex - doors open 6 pm; door prize 6:45 pm, film at 7 pm.

Tickets are $10 and available at the Aurora Public Library or R & R Books.

Come Fish Lake Simcoe's First Open Water Tournament of 2010!

The Spring PERCH ATTACK tournament is a one-day event where the usual summer tournament format is used. The standard tournament two-man team per boat is released from shore at 8: am (at our predetermined blast off spot) by their team number. Blast off will be at Sibbald Provincial Park on Park Rd., Sutton Ont.

Teams will then check back in at our check-in location @ 3: pm (the same as our blast off location) where they will get their 15 perch weighed to determine the winners of the event.

Check in will start at 6:30 am on May 1st. Rain date May 2nd. No refunds if rain dated

Pre registration per team is $150. ($170. at event) plus $20 for the Big Fish Pool (optional).

Anne Lindsay has established herself as one of the most sought after fiddler-violinists in Canada. Her musical sidekick in this concert is Jason Fowler. Anne and Jason have collaborated for years as a duet and know each other's musical moves intimately. DOVE 2010 - Going the Distance! - Friday June-11-2010

Marathon Charity Lacrosse Game starting June 11 at 6pm and ending June 12 at 1pm.

DOVE 2010 hopes to exceed both last year’s amount of funds generated and awareness raised for both the Canadian Centre for Abuse Awareness and the Spirit of the Stick organizations.

The DOVE 2010 weekend celebration starts Friday June 11th at 6:00 pm, and will consist of a marathon 14 hour charity lacrosse game with professional, amateur, and celebrity players from across the country. To continue the tradition of getting the community involved, a four hour block will be available for the general public to join them on the floor during the morning of Saturday June 12th. They will attempt to break a Guinness World record during this celebration of our national sport.

A Triathlon Series Just For KIds! TRi KiDS Triathlons are non-competitive, safe events designed for 3-15 year olds. We promote and celebrate participation in three fun 'lifestyle' sports; swimming, biking and running. Another NEW race venue for TRi KiDS 2010! The Ray Twinney Rec Complex, 100 Eagle Street West, Newmarket has a 25m indoor pool with great spectator seating. The bike course will be on a traffic free driveway/road and the run course takes participants around the grounds of the complex to the finish line. Registration fees are $40 per participant. A $5 discount per child (for second and third child) is offered for families registering two or more children. Families must register at the same time to receive the discount. Reserved tables in the V.I.P. Marquee offer a sumptious gourmet lunch, or you can bring your own picnic. In fact, if you get creative, you could be the winner of one of our daily “perfect polo picnic” contests. Dress for the weather, don’t forget that you are outside and on grass, so high-heeled shoes can be difficult! Wear your best hat, you could end up winning the daily “hat contest”.

There is something to do for the entire family at PACE| Polo For Heart. Children love the pony rides and bouncy castle, and the boutiques and silent auction tents are always filled with unique and interesting merchandise.
